The 20ft expandable container house is the most widely ordered folding unit in the container housing trade. It ships in a compact 20 ft footprint, then extends sideways on site to roughly double its internal floor area. That combination — standard container logistics plus a genuine living space — is why it suits everything from site accommodation to backyard studios.
The unit is built around a galvanised steel frame with two folding side sections. In transit the sections are folded in and secured, so the whole house occupies the footprint of a standard 20 ft container. On site the hydraulic or manual system swings the sections out, the floor panels drop into position, and the wall and roof joints close against seals. No separate foundations are required beyond a level, load-bearing base.
